3 Ways You Can Support Local Businesses In Your Community Directly From Home:

As a member of the Greater Portland area community, we know how important it is to support our small businesses. Many of the places you love are still trying to operate within the confines of safety to continue bringing you their services.

It is extremely helpful to reach out to your local businesses to see if they are able to offer anything during this time. We’ve compiled a list of 3 ways that you can support them from home with a link to an example of each.

1. Order Take-out or Delivery

Your favorite restaurants or food spots have probably had to shut their doors, but many of them still offer take-out or delivery. Not only does that keep the business going, it also provides income for delivery drivers.

Do you happen to love donuts as much as we do? The Holy Donut is offering drive-through and pick up only services at their locations. Just pre-order online or through the Toast Take Out app.

Other services like Uber Eats, DoorDash2DineIn and Grubhub will provide delivery services from a number of local restaurants to minimize contact, travel and keep businesses operational.

2. Buy Promotional Packages or Gift Cards

Consider your ‘non-essential’ local health and wellness professionals such as massage therapists, personal trainers and hair stylists who aren’t physically able to work. Many of them are offering promotional packages or have implemented online services you can access in the mean time until they can reopen their doors to serve you.

In need of some self care, fitness or nutrition coaching? Maine Body Alliance is a massage therapy and personal training business in South Portland that is currently offering BOGO1/2 off gift certificates for massage, in home personalized stretching and strength programs and online nutrition and fitness coaching. Meaning you can get the same one on one custom coaching service as you would by actually going to a gym, but from home!

3. Shop Local Businesses Online

Many local businesses have online stores in addition to their physical locations. You can easily shop from home or buy gift cards for others to do the same.

Is it time for more groceries? If not now, it will be soon. The delivery option applies here as well,
Whole Foods delivers and offers personal shoppers who will gather your groceries, check out and deliver curbside. CVS, Shaws, BJ’s and other locations offer delivery through Instacart.

Living in this region, you likely have some winter coats with special cleaning instructions. The team at Pratt Abbott will pick up and deliver your articles once they are cleaned. Pay online and that will complete one more item on your to-do list!
